every right

This morning a big rig turned left onto Mission from Front Street, usurping pedestrians' right to cross (we had the green) and causing one shocked man to stumble backwards to avoid a bodily meet-n-greet with the trailer. The man began beating the trailer with his newspaper, then switched to his fist. The driver and the man cursed at each other a few exchanges before the truck driver moved on. The man took photos of the back of the truck, muttering "I had every right to do that." Ah, urban life. (Photo: Chicago, Oct. 2005)
